His Excellency President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received a delegation from the Court of Audit headed by President Judge Mohamad Badran, and composed of Judges Fawzi Khamees, Abdel Reda Nasser, Inam Al-Boustani, and Nelly Abi Younes.
During the meeting, the delegation presented to His Excellency the annual report of the Court of Audit for the years 2020–2024, the period during which Judge Badran assumed the presidency of the Court. His Excellency explained that the report “represents the fruit of the efforts of the Court’s judges and staff during one of the most difficult periods the country has experienced. Yet these circumstances did not affect the volume or quality of work; rather, matters witnessed a qualitative leap in developing the supervisory role undertaken by the Court, despite limited financial resources and shortage in human capacity.”
Badran also expressed his gratitude to His Excellency the President for “the support he provided to the Court of Audit during his leadership of the Army in the most difficult circumstances,” stressing that “such support had the greatest impact in enabling the Court to continue fulfilling its duties. This, if it indicates anything, it indicates the caliber of a statesman to whom we present our report today.”
For his part, His Excellency the President commended the efforts made by the Court of Audit over the past years, “despite the difficult circumstances the country has gone through,” affirming “the fundamental role of oversight bodies in putting state administration on the right track, combating corruption, and ensuring justice and equality among citizens.”
His Excellency concluded by calling upon the judges of the Court of Audit, as well as all judges, to make “their oath and conscience the foundation of their work, in order to safeguard the higher interests of the country and the citizens.”
